Restoryation Workshop

Restoryation Collection

We're delighted to let you know about an exciting new project that we hope you and your staff will participate in over the next year!

GCADV wants to learn from you as member programs about how the events of the past three years have impacted survivor advocacy, your programs, your lives - and what you've been learning from this experience. You are invited to participate in a statewide (and national) needs assessment of domestic violence and sexual assault programs.

Our goal: To emerge with a clear picture of what is needed (structure, program, policy) to support the health and sustainability of our workforce in the years ahead.

Background: There has been an influx of federal FVPSA funding that aims to respond to pandemic-related issues and needs. State coalitions like GCADV are being encouraged to support domestic violence programs’ "workforce development, retention, and resilience." The timing of this coincides with our organization’s desire to facilitate and support much-needed listening, needs assessment, and reconnection. Reconnection with you. Reconnection between advocates across the state. Reconnection in each of our own minds, hearts, and spirits.

What: GCADV is participating in a national needs assessment project, called "Re-story-ation", that will use story-telling as a way to understand the collective workforce experience of the past few years. Stories and data will be compiled and analyzed by an evaluation team led by Dr. Cris Sullivan, who you may know from her work on DV Housing First demonstration and research project.

Who: 25 state and U.S. territory coalitions will facilitate story-telling sessions involving thousands of advocates, preventionists, and program directors. Here in Georgia, this project is being led by Karimah Dillard - Policy Director, Leona Williams - Cultural Specific Outreach Director, Trish Hardy - Capacity and Technical Assistance Director, and Jan Christiansen - Executive Director.

When: 11 Dates from April through June. Participants can choose one date that best fits their role.

We are designing the time and space so that participants can tell and listen to each other's stories, with thoughtful facilitation, and so that we can all start gleaning lessons for the future of survivor advocacy and our movement.

All Restoryation Project participants will receive travel stipends, regardless of the typical standard mileage criteria. 15 hotel rooms will also be provided on a first come, first serve basis.
