Posted on: 02.11.11

****URGENT!!  PUBLIC POLICY ACTION ALERT!!!****

Please take 5 minutes TODAY to make ONE PHONE CALL to your United States Representative.  Ask them to preserve current federal funding for services to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.

Right now, Congress is considering massive federal funding cuts to domestic violence and sexual assault programs. This will mean drastic cuts to essential, life-saving services such as safe shelter for victims and their children and forensic examinations for victims of rape and sexual assault.

To be frank, your voice as an advocate and ally is all that stands between available services for victims and the very real threat of budget cuts. Georgia’s domestic violence and sexual assault programs are already struggling to keep their doors open due to other budget cuts. Your phone call to your U.S. Representative can make the difference!

Action to take:

Call 1-866-997-6651 to reach the Congressional Switchboard and ask them to transfer you to your Representative’s office.  It is important to our advocacy efforts that you use this particular phone number!  If you don’t know who your Representative is, go to http://www.house.gov and enter your Zip Code in the box in the top left corner of the page.

When your Representative’s office answers the phone say:
